The Women Powering Africa’s Next Energy Era

Register Today!

Africa’s energy and extractives industries are entering a defining era, one shaped not only by investment, industrialization, and sustainability, but increasingly by women stepping into leadership across the continent.

On May 29, the Africa Collaboration Chamber will convene global executives, policymakers, legal experts, and entrepreneurs for the latest installment of its Business & Beyond Series: Women Leading the Energy & Extractives Future. The 90 minute virtual forum positions itself as more than another conversation about representation. It is designed as a strategic platform focused on practical collaboration, visibility, and long term economic participation for women across Africa’s energy ecosystem.

From mining and oil and gas to renewable energy, infrastructure finance, and sustainability, women are increasingly influencing industries that remain central to Africa’s economic transformation. Yet despite measurable progress, women continue to be underrepresented in executive leadership, technical operations, investment decision making, and sector policy development.

The webinar brings together a distinguished lineup of leaders from across Africa and the global energy market, including government officials, mining executives, legal experts, and corporate strategists. Featured speakers include Anne Babinaga of Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, VerdCo Mozambique CEO Dorcas Uaciquete, Women in Mining Association of Namibia President Zenzi N. Awases, and Houston based business development executive Ileana Ferber.

Moderated by Africa Collaboration Chamber President Asha Amani, the discussion will explore leadership journeys, entrepreneurship opportunities, sustainability innovation, and the structural barriers women continue to navigate in traditionally male dominated sectors.

More importantly, organizers say the conversation is focused on actionable outcomes, mentorship, regional collaboration, and building stronger pathways for women entering the next generation of Africa’s industrial economy.

As global demand for critical minerals, energy infrastructure, and regional supply chain resilience accelerates, Africa’s future competitiveness may depend not only on its natural resources, but on how effectively it develops and elevates diverse leadership capable of shaping inclusive growth.

For the Africa Collaboration Chamber, the message is clear: powering progress requires bringing more women to the center of the conversation and the decision making table.
