Brooklyn, NY | Sports Power Infrastructure (SPI) and the Institute for Workforce Advancement (IWA) announced a Strategic Partnership Agreement to expand workforce development, supplier opportunities, and community benefit investment using sports and entertainment. The partnership positions advanced manufacturing as a career and small business contracting path for athletes seeking education, training, and stable employment in high-growth energy and technology sectors.
Sports Power Energy + Innovation Campaign
Sports Power Energy + Innovation launches Labor Day weekend, September 5 through October 21 across New York City, Long Island, and the Mid-Hudson region, culminating Thursday, October 22 in Brooklyn from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM during National Manufacturing Day.
Participants complete a survey to enter a sweepstakes featuring premium sports and entertainment experiences while discovering workforce opportunities in energy infrastructure (semiconductors, advanced nuclear, transmission, energy efficiency) and technology (photonics, microelectronics, AI-enabled systems, cybersecurity). Survey responses identify local investment needs, ensuring community priorities drive market development.
New York State has benefitted from $112 billion in advanced manufacturing investments announced since the CHIPS Act. The sector faces urgent workforce challenges: 500,000 open jobs nationally, with 2.1 million unfilled positions by 2030.

Community Benefit Investment Program
Sports Power Infrastructure invites qualified nonprofits to become Community Benefit Partners. The SPIN Foundation, through the Sports Power Infrastructure Fund, manages and distributes mini grants to Community Benefit Partners across the three regions for workforce development, training programs, and community engagement.
"This partnership connects workers to careers and gives communities a voice in shaping their future," said Philip Rugile, President of the Institute for Workforce Advancement.
Tenicka Chaney, Managing Director for Sports Power Infrastructure, added: "We're creating pathways for residents to win while accessing real opportunities in energy and technology manufacturing."
