Purpose
LocalContent.com is seeking responses from qualified Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) developers interested in partnering on storage deployment projects in Nassau and Suffolk County, New York. This RFI is part of a broader initiative to align clean energy development with local economic participation, regulatory compliance, and community resilience goals.
Target Geography
Projects must be located within:
- Nassau County, NY
- Suffolk County, NY
Priority will be given to proposals involving redevelopment sites, industrial parcels, municipal land, or areas in proximity to substations and interconnection infrastructure.
Project Objectives
- Deploy scalable BESS projects ranging from 1MW to 100MW+
- Support grid reliability, peak shaving, and renewable energy integration
- Align with state and local policy goals (CLCPA, LIPA roadmap, IRA incentives)
- Advance local content compliance, including:
- Local small business subcontracting
- Workforce development participation
- Community benefit investment
- Stakeholder engagement
Requested Information
Respondents are invited to submit a comprehensive overview including:
1. Company Profile
- Legal entity name and headquarters location
- Primary contact and relevant experience in battery storage, especially in NY State
2. Technical Capabilities
- Technology types supported (e.g., lithium-ion, flow, hybrid systems)
- Typical project sizes and technical configuration
- Interconnection, dispatch, and siting expertise
3. Development & Site Approach
- Indicate if you currently control or are pursuing sites in Nassau/Suffolk
- Typical land use requirements per MW
- Willingness to co-develop on public, commercial, or brownfield properties
4. Financing & Ownership Model
- Describe capital structure (e.g., owner-operator, PPA, leasing)
- Investment partners or fund capacity, if applicable
5. Compliance & Community Alignment
- Past performance with MWBE, SDVOB, or small business contracting
- Community engagement strategies
- Ability to meet local content and workforce goals
6. Support Requested
- Identify any needs from LocalContent.com or municipal partners, such as:
- Site introductions
- Local content program design
- Permitting or incentive navigation
7. Additional Attachments
- Relevant project case studies
- NYSERDA registration or qualified vendor credentials
- Letters of support or public-private partnerships, if available
